OFA Annual Awards

Deadline for Nominations: September 25, 2026. Please submit one nomination per category per form.

Nominations must be submitted by an OFA member; however, any individual, project, or organization based in Oregon is eligible to be nominated.

Awards will be presented at the annual convention, October 15–17, 2026, at the Wingspan Event & Conference Center in Hillsboro, OR.

The Awards Selection Committee encourages you to include a brief summary explaining why your nominee is deserving of recognition. Please keep this overview to 100 words or fewer. You may provide additional details in a separate profile of up to three pages, which can be uploaded with your submission. You are also encouraged to include copies of any media coverage related to the nominee, project, or incident.

Distinguished Service Award

This award recognizes outstanding service and dedication to the Oregon Fairs Association, as well as significant contributions to the nominee’s local fair and community. Eligible nominees must have been active OFA members for at least seven years and have served on the OFA Board, a committee, or as an Area Director, while also remaining actively involved at the local fair or community level. To qualify, nominees must have made meaningful contributions not only to their own fair but to fairs in general and to the OFA as a whole.

Fair Board Member of the Year Award

This award honors a Fair Board member who has gone above and beyond their expected responsibilities to make significant contributions toward improving the fair they represent. Nominees must have been active in the fair community within the past year.

Business Supporter Award

This award recognizes the vital contributions businesses make to the success of our fairs. Nominees should have made a significant impact through their sponsorships, financial contributions, donations of materials or services, or other unique and meaningful efforts.

Fair Supporter Award

This award honors the vital contributions that local community organizations or individuals make to the success of our local fairs. Nominees should have made a significant impact on a fair through their unique or exceptional efforts. To be eligible, nominees must have been active within the fair community during the past year.

Youth Fair Supporter

This award honors the vital contributions youth make to the success of our local fairs and to OFA. Nominees must be 18 years old or younger and should have demonstrated unique or exceptional efforts that made a meaningful impact on your fair.

Youth Project Award

This award recognizes a special project that benefits youth and is either coordinated by a fair or involves significant coordination and support from a fair.

Phil Downing Service Member Award

OFA Service Members will select one of their own to receive this prestigious award honoring significant contributions to the fair industry. Nominees for this award should meet the following criteria:

Have been an OFA member for at least two years prior to nomination and be in good standing with all annual dues and convention fees paid.
Have contributed to OFA through volunteer service, whether on committees or at convention.
Demonstrate ethical business practices and professional conduct when working with fairs and fellow Service Members.
Actively promote the mission, values, and goodwill of the Service Members within OFA.

Whoops! Award

This award is all about laughing at ourselves. It recognizes a fair person, organization, or fair board that made a truly memorable—and perhaps outrageous—mistake during the past year, and is willing to share the story with the OFA membership. Photos or supporting documents are strongly encouraged to accompany this nomination.

FAIR MEDIA & MARKETING ENTRIES

These awards recognize exceptional media and marketing efforts by fairs. Printed materials, advertisements, and fair posters may be submitted as either high‑resolution image files or print originals. If you choose to send print originals, please use mailing tubes so the materials can be displayed properly at the convention.

If your digital files are too large to upload, you may use the text boxes to provide a link to a shared file (such as Vimeo, Google Drive, or any other file‑sharing platform). You may also mail physical materials directly to Westside Commons.
