Fairs and Expositions are increasingly challenged to provide safe interaction areas for visitors to the livestock barns and events. E. coli O157:H7 and other Enteric Pathogens have been alleged as the cause of many illnesses and even deaths from direct and indirect contact with livestock at fairs, expositions, and petting zoos. This session shares recent events and outlines the IAFE training course that provides participants with knowledge and tools to assess their own site and strengthen consumer protection programs related to livestock interactions.
